Custom Performance Engineering, Inc. was started back in August of 2003 with the goal of engineering and manufacturing high quality products for the automotive aftermarket industry within the United States. Company founders' Anthony J. Messina, Luigi D. Faustini, and Joseph A. Adams built a small shop in Anthony's parents 1 1/2 car garage while Anthony and Joseph attended college at the University of Maryland to earn their Engineering degrees and Luigi attended John Hopkins for his Masters in Electrical Engineering. Going to school during the day and bartending at night, they were able to purchase their first machine; a broken 1972 Bostomatic CNC. After making the necessary repairs and installing 240 3-phase power into the small space, they were on their way to fulfilling their dream.
Continuing to tend bar, neglecting school, and racking up credit card debt, the owners were soon able to move out of the garage and into 900 square feet sub leased from friends. As the company grew, they purchased more broken equipment, relying on the help of the in house electrical and mechanical engineering talents to turn scrap metal into valuable assets. As cp-e's capabilities and services increased with every new machine they acquired, they quickly grew out of their second home, and were forced to moved into their current location. With this move, cp-e™ finally would have enough space for the large equipment required to bend tubing in house.
Although the company continued to grow, times weren't always easy: Joseph Adams recalls sleeping on his futon in his office right next to his desk while still in school. The owners felt that it was necessary to re-invest everything they made back into the company, frequently choosing to not even collect a paycheck. As the years pass, cp-e™ owners and many employees choose to sacrifice their own personal monetary pay in order to ensure the company's success. We believe that it is necessary that we continue to provide a USA manufactured product that carries a life time warranty, refusing to outsource production to cut costs like many of our competitors. Even our pick and place robot that makes the circuit boards in our electrical engineering department is kept in house.
We would like to thank you for your continued support throughout the years, and look forward to the many years to come. As cp-e™ matures, we will continue to pave the way creating high quality, high performance parts for tomorrows sports cars. Our team of electrical, mechanical, computer, and software engineers rely on their ability to leverage the synergies as we push the limits of future technologies. By combining these fields in house, cp-e™ can guarantee the power, performance, and reliability you need in an era of highly advanced vehicles.
