Product Description

Mazdaspeed6 Cold Air Intake

Custom Performance Engineering(cp-e™) is proud to announce the release of its Xcel™ cold air intake for the Mazdaspeed6.

The factory intake is great at one thing, suppressing horsepower and all the cool sounds that a turbo car makes! There is only one inlet on the Mazdaspeed6 factory airbox even the 6s and6i have two inlets. The 6i and 6s have the exact same inlet plus an additional inlet that opens in the higher RPM ranges. There is a substantial amount of horsepower to be made by replacing the intake.

Turbo cars are very sensitive to temperature increases, therefore in testing cp-e™ tried both a short ram intake and a cold air intake (CAI). After measuring temperatures throughout the intake track cp-e™determined that a CAI was in order.

The Xcel™ Mazdaspeed6 Cold Air Intake is the first intake only for any Mazda6 that will not set a check engine light (CEL). cp-e™spent a great deal of time engineering and figuring out a way to mass produce an intake that would not set a CEL. cp-e™ determined that a similar design to the 6i and 6s would be used. Improvements were made to the heatshield that doubles as an ABS harness holder.
The XcelTM cold air intake comes complete with all necessary hardware required for a complete and professional installation.

For a filter replacement, please use our Replacement 3″ Air Filter.

Besides the tricky install(tight workspace around maf during install)) this is a great system, thought I strongly suggest getting a water sock for it and also making sure to cover the slats in the driver side wheel well as it will allow water to shoot up into the filter and fry your maf if you hit a deep puddle, like happens all the time on the high way when you hydroplane. Other than that its a great quality intake that works with stock tune but there is even a tune for it on COBBs website for the AP under “map archives” in the maps section of their site. Anyhow, love the intake, only issue is if you have a CP-e FMIC like I do, its really close to the hotside turbo pipe which doesn’t seem like the wises overall design move, but still great products.
