We’ve always been teased with the possibility of a Focus RS, but Ford has never given it to us Americans until now.
Well, I think we can all agree that this will be worth the wait and live up to the RS moniker that we’ve all obsessed over. Ford originally claimed the car would have 320ps, but now they’ve put out a press release announcing 350ps (345hp). This is a great time to be a hot hatch enthusiast.
Think of the pure joy in driving a car to the grocery store, then smoking a Porsche on the way home. This car is going to bring a level of performance to practical cars that we’ve never seen in the U.S. in stock form. Sure cars can be modded to reach this level, but when you’re starting at 350, things can get interesting VERY fast.
We’ve modded the 2.3L EcoBoost in the Mustang pretty extensively and we can attest to that being a very stout motor. We’re already passing Mustang GT levels of power even with stock fuel in that car. So we know the motor has a good start. Add in the RS’s improved cylinder head, larger turbo, and revised intake design and we have a giant-slayer on our hands.
The exhaust manifold is still integrated into the head, like on the Focus ST, but that hasn’t stopped us from seeing impressive gains. Add a big turbo to the mix, and this car will have some seriously huge numbers. The stock dyno sheet looks very impressive with extremely flat torque.

It’s safe to say that this is going to be the car to have. We’re beyond excited and can’t wait to get our hands on one…
