Stage III block is bored out to 2.4L spec with ductile iron sleeves. The MZRblocks are precision machined to accept the new sleeves, sleeves are pressed in, and then the assembly is machined to proper deck height to ensure a tight sealing surface between the block and cylinder head. The Stage III short block comes with cp-e™ state-of-the-art Stage III pistons, all assembled with Manley I-Beam rods. ARP main studs are included. We use performance main bearings. Our Tri-Metal rod bearings are specially coated with a Teflon based coating offering reduced friction and wear.
Each motor comes with full documentation and a spec sheet. The factory head gasket will not fit this block due to the increased bore size.
1000hp capable with necessary accompanying upgrades. We do not guarantee any specific horsepower number.
We recommend changing your oil every 3,000-5,000 miles, regardless of oil type chosen. High quality engines deserve high quality parts. We recommend using a proven turbocharger system, including a high performance exhaust manifold. We suggest a fully built cylinder head for this motor (Ported with upgraded valve train). The boost levels needed to make full use of this motor are beyond the capabilities of a stock MZR cylinder head. We only suggest using e85 ethanol blends or race gas for this motor.

I Beam Rods
cp-e™ has chosen Manley as its manufacturer of choice for connecting rods. Manley’s I-beam connecting rods are formed from billet 4340 steel. 4340 steel is a heat treatable, low alloy steel containing nickel, chromium and molybdenum. It is known for its toughness and high strength in the heat treated condition while retaining good fatigue strength.

Stage 3 Pistons
Engineered with performance and strength in mind specifically for the Mazda MZR 2.3 DISI motor these Stage 3 pistons will hold up to almost anything. Made using a state-of-the-art forging process with extensive heat treating and special finishing, cp-e™ ensures optimum reliability which is exactly what is needed in a high performance engine.

Keyed Crank
In order to prevent slipping timing in high horsepower builds, all of our cranks have been keyed to ensure a locked in fitment.

Ductile Iron Sleeves
To maximize durability, our stage 3 blocks are sleeved with ductile iron sleeves.
